From Mirigimundi, Balasore

A small village in Odisha, India — where curiosity about the natural world first took root.

I'm Shubhranshu Behera, a 3rd year Int. M.Sc. student in Biological Sciences at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar.

My academic journey has led me to the fascinating world of phage-host interactions — specifically, how bacteriophages are shaped by evolution and how bacteria fight back with immune-like mechanisms. I find science most exciting when it sits at the edge of what is known.

I began my scientific journey in the humble surroundings of Mirigimundi village in Balasore district, Odisha — and worked my way to one of India's premier science research institutes through hard work and a genuine love for biology and discovery.

Beyond the lab, I bring the same curiosity and creativity to computer skills, photography, video editing, and exploring how AI can simplify everyday work.
